The Iowa Geocachers Organization (IGO) is inviting all SLAGA members to their big annual event this month. This year's geocaching competition will be held at Rodeo Park in Fort Madison, Iowa, the weekend of September 25-26. Can't stay that long? No problem -- you'll still be able to win cool prizes. You can opt not to compete, and just go caching at your leisure, with upwards of 150 new permanent caches placed just in time for the weekend. The event will officially begin at 8:00 am Saturday, with some socializing, GPSr loading (bring your cables and drivers!), and strategizing. Important instructions happen at 9:45 am, and the competition begins at 10:00 am. They'll fire up the grills for you around 5:30 pm -- bring your favorite grill food and a dish to share -- salad, side, or dessert. Basic beverages will be available. Don't forget your chair for sitting around the fire (unless you plan to spend the night caching!) and your flashlights and headlamps to hunt the night caches. Sounds like an awesome event! See GC2543D on geocaching.com for all the details.
