SLAGA BOARD MEETING
July 13, 2015

Minutes Approved. Motioned Tony Pete Second Approved
The June 6th, 2015 Board Meeting Minutes were read. A motion to approve the June 6th 2015 SLAGA Board Meeting Minutes was made by Tony Colter and seconded by Pete Shaw. Board unanimously approved the minutes.
Treasurer’s Report from June 2015 was read. Treasurer’s Report listed PayPal as PayPay. Wendy Neal will fix that. A motion to approve the Treasurer’s Reports was made by Pete Shaw and seconded by Tony Colter. The Board unanimously approved the June 2015 Treasurer’s Reports. Approved with corrections to PayPay.
Old Business
- Brochures – coming along fine. Pete Shaw will provide a draft at the next meeting.
- SLAGA Road Trips

- Bling power, led by Martha Coller, is tentatively for September with the exact date to be determined.
- Jack Daniels – KY – Kathy DeWitt will organize this trip with a date to be determined.
- Peoria – Put on hold until someone volunteers to organize it.
- Float trip – Pete Shaw has placed new caches – Kelli Hall (Ozark Sweetheart) is leading a group on September 19th.
- Decatur IL - Aug 21-23 Laura Million is organizing with details to follow. A breakfast event will be included.

Dave DeWitt will update the email addresses before the next email blast and newsletter

- Road Trips - Laura will release an email blast for road trips on Wednesday, July 15th and again at the end of July
- CITO & Lunch Event – Laura will release an email blast on July 20 and again on July 30th.
- Summer picnic
The summer picnic was successful. It was hot but people enjoyed it and there was a very good turnout. - Upcoming events
- Fall picnic – October 10 – Cuiver River State Park – Tasks yet to be done: create event page; purchase brats and burgers; order milestones coins; organize games, travel bug table, raffle. (Needed: new caches in the area and the pavilion number, kid caches)
- CIGA / SLAGA event – September 12 – Springfield IL
Picnic including a SLAGA vs. CIGA competition. Specifics are to be determined. - Halloween event / Cemetery Hop – October 24 – SLAGA offices will judge costume contest and pumpkin carding, as well as pay for awards for both.
- Winter pot luck – date to be determined. No other information available.
- Classes
- Wherigo classes – in progress but no date selected.
- Publishing Caches – Tony Colter will offer this sometime in the fall.
- Geocaching 101 – St. Charles – Kathern Linneman Branch
- GSAK 101 and 201 – 201 is almost ready. Pete Shaw will schedule when GSAK 201 is ready.
- Website
Gear exchange and scout page – scout page done, gear exchange: question whether we need gear page. A previous page was not used much. The board decided to put it on hold until there is more interest. Currently the SLAGA Facebook page is used by people wanting to sell gear. - Elections
Nominations are closed, Kathy will send Steve Bromley the SLAGA membership email list for the vote. - 12 days of Cachemas – on hold until later in the fall.
- Newsletter – The next SLAGA newsletter will go out on Sept 28th. Laura will need the articles by Sept 20th.
New Business
- PayPal’s Auto pay for SLAGA memberships – a discussion was held to discontinue the auto pay for membership dues. About 20 people had auto pay set up. SLAGA will send an email to people tell them it has been cancelled.
- Puzzle class – Laura will explore puzzles for a spring class.
- Christmas party – suggestions on locations – Shamrock’s in St. Peters. More discussion at the next board meeting
- Trailer inventory – Pete Shaw and Kathy DeWitt will inventory the trailer before the next picnic and replace what supplies are needed.
- Taxes -year end files – FY ends June 30th. Federal taxes require just mailing of an e-postcard. The Missouri taxes need more information. Kathy DeWitt and Wendy Neal will get together about the Missouri Taxes and filed it in a few weeks.
- SLAGA coin – Kathy DeWitt started by talking to Sarah Chisholm. Tony Colter will have a design by next meeting.
- PA system – Currently the battery will not charge. Dave DeWitt tested with new battery and it worked. He will buy a replacement battery.
- New Year’s Day Hike – Robertsville State Park was recommended for the Jan 1st, 2016 hike. New caches will need to be placed before then.
- SLAGA Bylaws - Memberships and Officer terms (2-year terms) – the text needs to be officially added to bylaws. Pete Shaw and Tony Colter will write the text.
- AFV Chair used for the 10,000 milestone was on sale at $19 each. The board approved for Pete Shaw to buy 10 more for future milestones.
