28 January 2023, 09:00 - 16:00 Finally, the fun time is almost here! That’s right; it’s time for the Winter Potluck and Cabin Fever Event. The event will be held at The Pavilion at Lemay! This 42,000 square foot facility has a gymnasium, kitchen facilities, and other amenities that will make this event very comfortable for everyone. ***PLEASE NOTE*** Animals are not allowed in the facility, so please plan accordingly. If you have never attended this event, mark it on your calendar. It’s one of the best events of the year. We have games, a raffle, loads of geocaching stories, trackable exchange table and maybe a surprise or two. Each family is requested to bring a covered dish or two to help feed the group. We are talking about meat dishes, casseroles, vegetables, salads, and desserts. As in years past, St. Louis County Parks has graciously provided this facility to use at absolutely no cost. Since we will be in the gymnasium, be careful and try not to drop food or drinks on the floor. If a spill does occur, just grab one of the SLAGA Officers or your host and we'll get it taken care of. When you log your "Will Attend" please include a head count as well as what food item(s) you plan to bring. We will update this page with the growing menu! The food line layout will continue as last year! The wonderful Pavilion of Lemay staff is allowing us to use the old “TOTT Room” again this year. When you enter the front doors, DO NOT go to the kitchen area. Make a hard right turn, yes, even right of the gym doors to the old TOTT room. Here is where we will have the food line. Place your food dishes on the appropriate table and then join the fun in the gym. SLAGA will provide the plates, silverware, etc. Cabin Fever Gift Exchange This year’s gift exchange has been changed to achieve a larger participation among the group. The Cabin Fever Gift Exchange is a voluntary gift exchange for geocachers at the SLAGA Winter Potluck. If you would like to participate, we request participants purchase a minimum of $15 to $30 gift, preferably geocaching related. Some ideas would include a geocoin, a nice container full of swag, a gift card for gas, sporting store, or local restaurant, etc. The participant must also get a micro container and decorate it in any fashion or theme that they like. This micro container must be water resistant and be able to hold a paper log book. STEP ONE: Your gift must be wrapped or placed inside a box or other container so as not to reveal what it is. We want it to be a surprise. STEP TWO: Bring your gift and micro to the Cabin Fever Gift Exchange table and register your name. We will put a random number on the gift and the same number on a slip of paper inside the micro. Everyone who registers will randomly get to pick a special micro and number to retrieve their gift. If you are not feeling well, please DO NOT attend. AGENDA TIME ACTIVITY 9:00 am – 10:00 am Empty trailer, setup registration, raffle, and food area. 10:00 am – 11:30 am Begin registration, setup food, sell 50/50 tickets and raffle tickets, check in TB's and geocoins, bring in raffle items and begin the games. 11:30 am – 1:00 pm Time to eat! Volunteers go first. Tables will be called by table numbers 1:00 pm – 1:15 pm Group photo will be taken! 1:15 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Turn in all game cards. Raffle ends at precisely 1:30 pm. 1:30 p.m. – ??? President's time, speeches, milestone awards, jokes, etc. ??? + about 30 minutes 50/50 drawing and game winners announced. Raffle winners revealed. Gift Exchange starts. ??? – 4:00 p.m. Teardown and cleanup the TOTT room.Inventory and pack up the totes and load the trailer. Like any good event, it takes many people to keep it running smoothly. Those who can volunteer in one (or more) of the jobs listed below are most appreciated and will get to eat first!
