CITO at Bellefontaine Cemetery
Description
CITO at Bellefontaine Cemetery
October 26, 2024 from 9am to 11am
Bellefontaine Cemetery is almost surrounded by 4-lane highways -- North Broadway on the northeast side, West Florissant Avenue on the southwest side, and I-70 on the southeast side. On the northwest side is Calvary Avenue, which divides two of the largest cemeteries in the city. While visiting and talking to Dan Fuller, the Cemetery Chronicler of Bellefontaine Cemetery & Arboretum, we were walking the grounds and talking about future geocaching possibilities in the cemetery. While we were walking, we were also picking up paper, bags, and misc. trash that is being blown in from the highways. So much so, that I mentioned to Dan that we should have a CITO here this spring and fall to pick up this loose trash. He not only agreed, but he also said he could help make this a nice event.
So mark your calendars for Saturday, October 26th, and bring your grabbers and bring your gloves, and come out to Bellefontaine Cemetery and help us clean up the grounds. This will be a rain-or-shine event that will allow geocachers from around the area to help give back to this beautiful place for allowing us to play our game in such a wonderful setting.
We will have a table set up for refreshments of cookies, and water at the Willow Gate House at the main entrance. Bellefontaine will supply the trash bags; all we need is a good turnout. We might even have a few prizes to give away.
