Description
PLANT AMERICA Community Project Grants help enhance and beautify our public areas and community gardens. Project grants to NGC member clubs help educate adults and children about the joys of gardening and create a pride throughout the community. Join us for family fun with a focus on gardening, nature, water conservation and sustainability.
Kids Activities:
- Water cycle activities
- Search for Geocache treasure boxes hidden in the park
- Create a fairy garden
- transplant seedlings to take home
- Learn to identity native water dwelling bugs and insects
- Make a faux Chihuli using up-cycled water bottles
- Many other crafts
Speakers:
10:30am - "Snakes!" Learn the truth, myths, and misconceptions regarding snakes and their importance in our ecosystems.
11:15am - "Let's Talk About Water" Learn creative ways you can manage and conserve water in your landscape and garden, reduce water pollution, and protect our Missour water resources.
12:00pm - "Watershed Alliance" Expections vs. a more realistic understanding of what it takes to maintain sustainable, reslient, and livable communities through green infrastructure initiatives.
12:45pm - "Humane Wildlife Solutions" Garry Guinn will help us give our wild neighbors a helping hand as we learn to identify and control pesky yard invaders. And what to do if you find an injured animal.
1:30pm - "Blue Birds of St. Charles Co." Learn about lively efforts to help the Missouri State Bird.
