Wilderness First Aid

Date: 2011

The Department of Recreation Leadership at Lindenwood University is sponsoring a Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification course through Wilderness Medical Associates (WMA).  This course is open to the public and participants will be able to earn the most recognized level of training for wilderness protocols.

Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the ideal medical training for outdoor educators, guides, SAR team members, and others who work or play in remote areas. The curriculum is comprehensive and practical, including the essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments.  This course will teach you how to save lives and reduce further injury in the wilderness when medical assistance is not readily available.

The course will be held during the Fall semester starting August 31 and ending December 7.  This is a 72 hour certification course that meets weekly on Wednesday nights from 6:00-9:30 p.m. and the following three Saturdays; October 1, October 22, and November 12 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Registration is $600 and the deadline is July 6, 2011.
